Abstract

The response performance of graphene oxide (GO) to external-field stimuli makes GO competitive for expanding the applicability of electro-optic devices. Here, we show the response behavior of GO under the DC fields. In addition, GO doped blue phase liquid crystal composites (GO-BPLCs) with different GO doping concentrations were prepared. The effective incorporation of GO with BPLCs was discussed. The dynamic electro response of GO, and the homogeneous dispersion, reduced isotropic to BP transition temperature, extended temperature range of BP on cooling and static optical display of transmission and refraction modes of GO-BPLCs have been verified at a given concentration of GO. This new strategy of doping GO in BPLC provides good prospects for manufacturing a wide temperature range and responsive BPLCs and multifunctional display materials.
