Abstract
Evaluation of hearing status in children poses many problems. Behavioral and conditioning procedures do not give reliable information many a time and hence, there is a need for objective audiometry in children. Respiratory and pulse audiometry was tried in 15 children with good result. It was done with easily available equipments like kymograph and polyrite machines, as compared to the non-available sophisticated equipments needed for electrocochleography, evoked response audiometry or auditory brain stem responses. A plea is made to include the respiratory and pulse audiometry in the battery of tests done to evaluate the hearing status in children.
