Abstract

Abstract With its rich culture and long history, China has abundant heritage resources, including numerous World Heritage Sites. Considering the large population and rapid economic development, resource management at World Heritage Sites in China has many challenges. This paper reviews and assesses academic literature on World Heritage management in China to explore issues in resource management at World Heritage Sites. It is identified that the complication of management structure and local participation are commonly addressed as key concerns for resource management at World Heritage Sites in China. Further research opportunities are also identified.
