Abstract
Data are reported on the status and prospects for development of world production of carbon fibres. The basic research trends are distinguished in creation of resource-conserving technologies for production of carbon fibres are reported. The process features of production of these fibres from polyacrylonitrile, lignin, polyoxadiazole, and hydrated cellulose are examined in light of the world decrease in the cost of carbon fibres.
