Abstract

AbstractThis chapter examines the role that reports play in tourism in the Less Developed Countries (LDCs). The chapter examines various resort definitions and distinguishes between types of resort property and resort development. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the scale or resort development and the extent to which such properties achieve integration with the adjoining environment. Small island countries are especially considered, because large-scale resort developments are so conspicuous in such settings.
