Abstract
We study theoretically phonon transmission in a nanowire superlattice with a defect layer. We focus on azimuthally symmetric torsional modes and calculate the phonon transmittance. In frequency gaps, there exist transmission peaks originating from the resonant interaction with vibrational modes localized at the defect layer. It is shown that these peaks can be generated only above the critical frequency determined by the radius of the nanowire superlattice.
