Abstract

A repulsive potential behind a barrier or a potential well can exert suction, and under ideal conditions the interruption of suction enables the detection of the interrupting object without any steady flux impinging on the object. The relation of this phenomenon to the so-called “interaction-free measurement”, and the question of whether actually there is interaction, are discussed.
