Abstract
A three-band Koster-Slater model is applied to resonant states induced by a highly localised potential in a Hg1-xCdxTe type band structure. The density of states is obtained as a function of four parameters; resonant or discrete states can appear in various energy regions. The statistics of these states is discussed as well as their influence on optical transitions (interband and intraband) for various positions of the Fermi level. Characteristic dips, peaks and thresholds appear in the absorption spectrum.
