Abstract

A photoemission study of the single crystalline NdB 6 (110) clean surface has been carried out in the photon energy of Nd 4d-4f excitation region. The Nd 4f derived structure in the valence band spectrum exhibits the distinct 4d-4f resonance profile. In the ondashresonance spectrum, no characteristics structure well-ordered surface has been observed for the present NdB 6 (110) clean surface, indicating no surface electronic states having the Nd 4f components. It is found that the features of Nd 4f derived spectra are qualitatively understood in the framework of the impurity Anderson model.
