Abstract

We have studied the resonant photoemission spectra of the strongly correlated metal LaTiO 3.04 in the Ti 3p → 3d core absorption region at low temperature. The spectra show bands located at 0–2 and 4–9 eV binding energies, which are primarily of Ti 3d and O 2p character, respectively. The Ti 3d band, which consists of coherent and incoherent parts, is enhanced almost uniformly while the high binding energy part of the O 2p band is more strongly enhanced than the low binding energy part. Hybridized La 5d character is also found in the O 2p band and in the incoherent part of the Ti 3d band.
