Abstract

The plasma impedance in the spark gap and the discharge channel of a nitrogen laser with TE configuration is shown to have profound influence on the laser performance. Particularly since plasma impedance is a function of breakdown conditions, the laser pulse temporal width can be considerably minimized by adequately choosing the gas pressure. Discharge circuit analysis is compared with experimental results.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
