Abstract

Sub-bandgap illumination of Schottky barriers on p-PbTe gives resonant structures in the magneto-photovoltaic effect which are observed for the first time. These structures originate from transitions between a deep defect level and Landau states of conduction and valence band which are measured simultaneously in our experiment. Accurate values of the deep level energy relative to both band edges are obtained. We find that an external magnetic field has no influence on the deep level in agreement with a recently developed theoretical model.
