Abstract

The paper theoretically considers plasmon resonance in a spheroidal gold nanoparticle in the presence of a resonantly absorbing medium of atomic alkali-metal vapors via the quasi-static approximation and the model of coupled oscillators. A theoretical estimate of the minimum concentration of atomic vapors required for experimental observation of changes in the plasmon absorption peak due to the interaction of the plasmon with atoms has been performed.
