Abstract

The resonant action of magnetohydrodynamic flow with velocity shear on a thin plate, leading to the appearance of elastic vibrations with characteristic wavelength, is investigated. It is shown that the presence of a magnetic field in the flow leads to a splitting of the resonant layer into two sublayers. The dispersion equation and the increment of the arising instability, possessing a maximum in the long-wave range, have been obtained and investigated.
