Abstract

This paper provides a method for solving the resonant frequency of circular and rectangular patch antennas when brought near another similar antenna with a spacing less than 0.2λ to the antenna designer, even without having a theoretical base in electromagnetics. When the spacing between the antennas is so small, mutual coupling effects that do not predominate when the antennas are far from each other, cause a change in the resonant frequency of the antenna. Many papers have discussed the resonant frequency analysis for rectangular and circular patch antennas using different unconventional tools, but none have provided the use of unconventional tools for these antennas when they are in close proximity to another antenna. This paper uses neural networks and neuro-fuzzy systems as tools for the resonant frequency analysis problem.
