Abstract
Auger transitions were studied for condensed CS 2 following S-1s resonant excitation. The most frequent decay channel was found to be an S- KL 2 , 3 L 2 , 3 spectator Auger transition. Intensities of the S- KL 2 , 3 L 2 , 3 peaks showed that the two S-3p* orbitals, π* and σ*, have different character. Furthermore it was observed that the profile of a desorbed ion yield entirely differed from the absorption spectrum, which is probably owing to a remaining spectator electron in highly antibonding orbital.
