Abstract
Abstract We present here a set of Auger and photoemission results obtained on three different rare earths: lanthanum, samarium and thulium taken at the 3d absorption threshold. The de-excitation process appears to be different depending of the 4f occupation number. This can be understood considering the localized character of the excited 4f electron. Constant initial state results are also shown.
