Abstract

The resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization (RE2PI) spectrum of S 1 benzene was studied by lime-of-flight (TOF) mass analysis. Excitation spectra of the mass-selected ion (C 6H 6 +) measured over the wavelength region from 233 to 262 nm revealed that the ion intensity for the “channel three” region excitation becomes smaller due to non-radiative processes upon decreasing the excitation energy, compared to that below the channel three threshold.
