Abstract

We study resonance effects in the scattering of light from a one-dimensional, weakly rough, random metal surface coated with a thin film. The angular distribution of the intensity of the light that has been scattered incoherently is studied in a wide range of frequencies of the incident light. The evolution of the enhanced backscattering peak as the frequency is tuned through the resonance with dipole-active vibrations in the film is studied for the scattering of light of both p and s polarizations.
