Abstract

Organic Light-Emitting Diodes Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDS) with directional surface emission are promising candidates for applications such as miniaturized optical sensor systems and digital signage. As described in article number 2200143 by Janek Buhl, Martina Gerken, and colleagues, tailoring emission characteristics by optical resonance effects can improve light utilization and overall efficiency. The image shows a blue excitation OLED illuminating a thin color conversion waveguide grating providing narrow-angle orange light emission from the device surface.
