Abstract

It was demonstrated that, at resonance frequencies, isotropic cylinders normally insonified by an acoustic wavetrain point out reemission angular diagrams characterized by a regular pattern whose structure depends on the frequency of excitation. In this paper the reemission pattern associated to anisotropic cylindrical samples is investigated. The experimental results achieved on a stainless-steel cylinder demonstrate that the resonances of the Rayleigh series are not affected by the anisotropy of the sample whereas the diagrams which correspond to the Whispering Gallery waves are different than those observed with isotropic cylinders.
