Abstract

ABSTRACTResonance absorption of high-power short laser pulse in near critical inhomogeneous plasma is studied. Using the Maxwell’s equations and considering p-polarization, the wave equations for electric and magnetic fields in the plasma are obtained. The profiles of electric and magnetic fields and absorption rate in the plasma are plotted by taking into account linear, parabolic, and exponential density profiles. Simulation results show that for different density profiles, the absorption process depends on the normalized spatial scale length .
