Abstract

Abstract The resonance absorption of a weak probe beam in a plasma, produced by 0.53 μm laser irradiation of planar targets at 1014 W/cm2, has been investigated. The probe beam (λ= 1.06 μm) could be delayed in time relative to the 0.53 μm pulse. Thus a shift of the resonance absorption maximum towards smaller angles of incidence for increasing time delays was found. This is expected on account of the hydrodynamic expansion.
