Abstract

The placenta separates maternal-fetal antigens and restricts (or permits) microbe residency and vertical transmission. Mechanisms responsible for tolerizing constant antigen challenges remain poorly understood. Single-cell technologies are defining heterogeneity of placental cell types; however, current analyses lack placenta architecture spatial resolution. Thus, we employed spatial transcriptomics paired with H&E to investigate and map placental immune microenvironments.
