Abstract

A simple and efficient strategy is developed for resolving racemic mixtures of chiral compounds of industrial interest using enzymatic derivatives. This strategy is based on synthetic reactions (as opposed to the hydrolytic reactions, which are more popular) which avoid the prior handling of the racemic mixture. Furthermore, we have connected the synthetic reaction of resolution to an enzymatic hydrolytic reaction and thus a double advantage is achieved: an improvement over the previous resolution and obtaining the desired product without any chemical protection. This strategy has been developed on the basis of a model reaction: the resolution of a d/ l-AlaNH 2 racemic mixture. We obtained an enantiomeric excess greater than 97% after a synthetic strategy, which is a very promising result.
