Abstract

In this paper, a dual-view 3D display using a holographic stereogram based on integral imaging was proposed and implemented without the use of complex components. To improve the quality of the reconstructed 3D images, we developed a modified holographic stereogram utilizing resolution-priority integral imaging. A resolution-improved dual-view 3D display was achieved by converting plane-wave propagation to spherical-wave propagation during image reconstruction. We compared reconstructed images from the identical viewpoint of the above proposed methods with corresponding reference images by numerical simulations and optical experiments. Both simulated and experimental results confirmed that using the modified holographic stereogram for dual-view 3D display effectively enhances resolution.
