Abstract

The resistivities ϱ and complementary d ϱ/d T data for polycrystalline Sm samples of different purities and different sample states have been measured over the temperature range 5–120 K. The high quality dϱ/dT data indicate a two component nature to the antiferromagnetic ordering at T NC ≈ 12.7 K, the lower Néel temperature. The data also allow the previously reported anomaly in specific heat at ∼ 9.6 K to be linked withthe presence of oxide inclusions.
