Abstract

The susceptibility and resistivity have been measured as a function of temperature for several Rh–Ru alloys containing Fe. It is found that the θ's derived from the susceptibility data show no dependence on iron concentration, and change only moderately as the host composition is varied from Rh to Rh0.75 Ru0.25. Thus, the interpretation of these results as evidence for a Kondo quasibound state with TK depending exponentially on the density of states does not hold. It is also found that the linear behavior of ρ with Tχ(T), which led to the formulation of the two-band model, breaks down for ternary Ru–Rh–Fe alloys.
