Abstract

Resistance spot welding of DP590 hot dip galvanized steel was investigated. The microstructure, shear force and current range of welded joints were studied. The results show that with the increasing of welding current or welding time, the shear force of the joints increased first and then decreased. The maximum value of shear force was 17.42 kN at the welding current of 9.5 kA and the welding time of 360 ms. The thinner of Zn layer thickness, the higher value of joint shear force under the same spot welding process. The spot welding current range is smaller with the increasing of Zn layer thickness.
