Abstract
In an attempt to obtain coat protein-mediated protection, the coat protein gene of PLRV, which was previously identified and sequenced, was inserted into the genomes of both tobacco and potato. These plants were characterized, the potato plants challenged with PLRV using viruliferous aphids, and virus titers monitored using ELISA. The results were compared to those of the transgenic plants expressing the coat protein of other viruses
