Abstract

Measurements of current induced noise at points of constant resistance anywhere within the transition region of thin film YBa 2Cu 3O 7 are known to reveal a noise voltage spectral density that varies as 1 ƒ with frequency. In this letter we report transition region noise measurements that were taken while the sample resistance was allowed to change. The resulting spectrum varied with frequency as 1 ƒ α , α ≈ 2, was high in magnitude, and could affect the sensitivity of superconducting transition region bolometers.
