Abstract

Within the group of organic-synthetic fungicides dithiocarbamates have attained a special importance. They are substances derived from dithiocarbonic acid. The parent compound itself, the dithiocarbamic acid, is the half-amide of the dithiocarbonic acid. In agriculture some salts and oxidation products of the N-alkyl-substituted dithiocarbamic acid (dithiocarbamates, respectively thiuramsulfides) are used as fungicides. The ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamates are of special importance. Some important structures are shown below.
