Abstract

The behavior of a powder during isostatic compaction is simulated by a hollow sphere model. A flexible one-dimensional finite element analysis is presented for a hypoelastic and strain-hardening plastic behavior of the matrix at finite strains. Results are given for various cases, and the residual stresses after one or several compaction cycles are discussed.
