Abstract

The residual stresses existing in a series of heavy-section dissimilar joints of the English Electrzc Mk III design have been measured at room temperature in both the as-welded state and after times.of up to 65 000 h at 565°C. The results are examined in terms of the possible mechanzsms contrzbutmg to the measured stress distributions and the effect of time at operating temperature on their magnitude.
