Abstract

The effect of residual spin-dependent interactions in multi-quasiparticle states in hafnium isotopes is studied using a model based on the empirical data for one- and two-quasiparticle states in the neighbouring nuclei. The residual interactions typically produce shifts of a few hundred keV. A long standing problem of the ordering of three observed 6-quasiparticle states in 176Hf is resolved.
