Abstract

This paper provides information on present patterns of residential mobility in four areas of Bristol. It is shown that this movement is essentially a response to changing space requirements associated with changes in the family life cycle. Particularly important is the initial stage of household formation. The relationship between patterns of mobility and the entry rules and allocation procedures in the housing market is also discussed.
