Abstract

Among the highly venerated Russian saints, the name of Vladimir the Great undoubtedly stands out especially. Turning again to this outstanding personality, the representative of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in the Commonwealth, compiling his report for the Moscow Court, suddenly made an annoying slip of the pen. The study of its causes raises the question of the diplomat’s level of knowledge in princely genealogy, the history of Kievan Rus and medieval Poland, raises the topic of interest in the Kiev ruler in the Polish-Lithuanian state, and draws our attention to the veneration of Saint Vladimir in Russia in the 17th century.
