Abstract

Summary Reservoir dimensions and heterogeneities are predicted for sand bodies originating in meandering and braided fluvial channel systems. Diagenesis significantly alters original porosity and permeability characteristics in tight gas sandstones and operates within the sedimentary framework established at the time of deposition. Depositional environment therefore exercises fundamental control on reservoir dimensions and quality.
