Abstract
SUMMARY This article is intended to help anyone wishing to research statewide initiatives and referendums in Nebraska. The first part of this article briefly describes the history of initiatives and referendums in Nebraska. The second part provides an overview of the initiative and referendum process in Nebraska. The next part discusses the various parties involved in the initiative and referendum process in Nebraska. The final part describes the various sources one would consult when researching initiatives and referendums in Nebraska. Appendix A includes citations to the Nebraska Constitution and Revised Statutes of Nebraska, which cover the initiative and referendum process in Nebraska. Appendix B is a selective bibliography of books and articles specific to the initiative and referendum process in Nebraska. Appendix C includes a list of major cases that have dealt with the initiative and referendum process in Nebraska.
