Abstract

Currently, mesh placement laparoscopic surgery is a first-line procedure for the repair of an inguinal hernia. Extended-view totally extraperitoneal (eTEP) technique for inguinal hernia repair has many advantages, such as the creation of an enlargement view, flexible port setup adaptability, and possible tolerance of pneumoperitoneum. Besides, it also repaired an incisional hernia. To contribute to the study and evaluation of the results of the eTEP technique for inguinal hernia repair, we reported the first two cases performed eTEP technique approach for the treatment of an inguinal hernia at our department: a 79-year-old male and a 62-year-old male referred to hospital for indirect inguinal hernia on the right side. Initial results were effective and safe. However, we need to research and follow up on the long-term outcomes to assess the advantages of this technique.
