Abstract
The results of the above researches are as follows :— ( a ) In 18 cases of lupus vulgaris, 16 positive inoculations of guinea-pigs were obtained, one was negative, and in one case the animal died casually. From 16 positive inoculations of guinea-pigs, 15 cultures from the organs of the animals were obtained, and in one no culture resulted. From the 15 strains, in 10 instances a bacillus of the human type was obtained, in one a bovine type of bacillus of enfeebled virulence was found, while in four cases the type of tubercle bacilli could not be ascertained. ( b ) In three cases of tuberculosis verrucosa cutis one human type and one bovine type were found, and in the third case the type of tubercle bacilli could not be ascertained. ( c ) In both cases of scrofuloderma a bovine type of tubercle bacilli has been obtained. ( d ) The cases of erythema induratum and papulonecrotic tuberculides gave a negative result of the inoculation of the guinea-pigs.
