Abstract

We studied the relation between aging and hydrogen evolution of the 17S alloy (Duralmin)Samples were water quenched from 505°C, and then tempered at 130°C and 165°C. Aging duration were 1hr, 2hrs, 3hrs, 6hrs, 12hrs, 24hrs, 2days, 3days, 4days, 5days, 6days, and 7days.After these heat-treatments, specimens were dipped in 10%NaOH solution for 30 minutes, and then measured their hydrogen evolution in 10%, 20%• and 30%HCl sodutions.Conclusions:1. The longer the dipping time, the more the hydrogen evolution.2. It seemed that there is fluxiblerelation between aging and hydrogen evolution.
