Abstract

This report deals with the distribution of particle concentration in the vertical section of the duct and obtained the following conclusions : (1) The concentration distribution of particles conveyed through a rectangular air duct can be represented by an exponential curve, and it is indicated by an approximate equation as follows : m=m0e-um (h-hm)/εm (2) When particles lie in the streams, the turbulence of the flow is enhanced and the turbulent diffusivity of the dispersion is intensified by the particles. In these cases, diffusion coefficient of air stream is indicated by an experimental equation as follows : εm=K1Rεα+K2Rpβ where [numerical formula] (3) The fraction of particles creeping at the bottom of the duct, whose data do not lie on the curve of exponential distribution, can be controlled easily by a suitable deflector attached at the bottom of the duct.
