Abstract
The report presented is devoted to aircraft wake vortices and condensation trails interaction. Condensation trails could affect heat exchanging processes in the atmosphere and deteriorate ecology by contribution to “greenhouse effect”. With the aim of investigation of condensation trails formation and minimization of its negative effect on ecology there was developed in the PJSC “Flight Research Institute named after M.M. Gromov” a complex methodology of quantitative assessment of condensation trails characteristics and it formation prognosis during cruise flights of aircraft with jet engines of various types. During flight tests it was demonstrated the necessity of accounting of aircraft condensation trails and wake vortices interaction and it is implemented in the methodology. Mathematical model of condensation trails and wake vortices development and interaction was created for that purpose. Using the model developed there were performed the calculations of different aircraft condensation trails and wake vortices and also there were carried out the researches of the influence of atmospheric conditions, presence of axial flows in the vortices nuclei and engines location on the wing on the process of condensation trail and wake vortex interaction. The description of this mathematical model and some research results are presented.
