Abstract
The purpose of this research utilization project was to examine the literature for possible causes and effective interventions for diarrhea in patients receiving tube feedings. The utilization process incorporated a four-step approach (a) extensive literature search, (b) critique of investigations, (c) rating each study for fit of setting and feasibility, and (d) deciding the level of practice application. Practice applications are suggested for formula preparations, feeding bag hang time, documentation of diarrhea, and type of enteral feeding system.
