Abstract

Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are widely used in aero-engine because of their excellent properties such as low thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and abrasion resistance. TBCs can effectively protect the hot end parts made of nickel-based superalloys. The service temperature and service life of the hot end components are improved, and the efficiency of the gas engine is increased. Compared with traditional thermal barrier coating materials, high entropy alloys and high entropy ceramic have better thermal stability, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and phase stability, which have become a research hotspot of new TBCs materials for aero-engines. The definition and connotation of high entropy alloys are summarized. The research status of high entropy thermal barrier coatings is introduced, including coatings' design principles and preparation technologies, domestic and abroad development status, and the research and application prospect of high entropy thermal barrier coatings are prospected
