Abstract
Scientists have developed a map that details the heights of the world's forests. The map, the first to span the entire world based on a single model, was generated from lidar (light detection and ranging) data collected over a 7‐year period from NASA's Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite (ICESat) as well as from data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on board NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites.
