Abstract

Oncofertility is a survivorship issue in young cancer patients. Research efforts to delineate reproductive outcomes and test interventions to preserve fertility options in young adult cancer patients are needed. Crucial to clinical research efforts is patient participation. In the adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer population, participation in research is traditionally low and stems from a multitude of challenges specific to this age group. There are very limited reports on recruitment approaches and rates specific to the AYA group. This chapter describes barriers and approaches to research recruitment and dissemination in young adult cancer patients.
