Abstract

ABSTRACT This article provides some research questions in elementary finite group theory which lend themselves to an experiment-discover-conjecture-prove approach and which are suitable for undergraduates who have access to a computer algebra package such as GAP or Magma (what would have been Cayley 4.0). These questions are presented as natural consequences of taking a quantitative approach to a standard qualitative homework problem.
