Abstract

Broadly understood international negotiations are the first-class way to build relations, conclude an agreement, and resolve disputes and conflicts between actors in international relations. The issue of international negotiation is a wide and complex issue due to the complexity of the art of negotiation itself and due to intercultural factors. The ability to conduct effective negotiations is a challenge and is often perceived in terms of difficult art in a purely qualitative sense. This article is an introduction to the research about determinants of efficient international negotiations I am planning to do as a PhD student. I will make the intended analysis on the basis of studies on Polish and foreign publications and on the basis of interviews with presidents, members of the top management, diplomats in Poland and abroad. The starting point is a series of questions that have not yet been clearly answered or have not been the subject of scientific research. The planned study will examine the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of international negotiations, on the basis of which an attempt will be made to define methods and tools influencing the effectiveness of negotiations, using both the current scientific achievements on this subject and the practical experience of professional negotiators of the highest level.
